Rendering and Exporting Promotional Video

Before I exported by promotional video I rendered it, this would make the run more smoothly and playback easier, with the clip running properly meaning no jumps to the film.
Now that I have finished my Promotion Video I will be exporting this by going to (File>Export>Media).
The formatted settings were Quicktime and Widescreen DV Pal. I made sure that the clip was scaled to fit, so I didn't have any black parts to my image.

Using Image in Video

I wanted to use an image in my video and I wanted this to be something that can relate to my DVD cover or my DVD label. So I decided I should use the front cover of my DVD cover, with the eye and the part which says based on true story. It was very easy to place this into my video, it was just the same as importing a video, then I placed this at the back of my video just after the titles. I have to re size the image to fit to screen but overall this process was very simple.

Editing Girl Clip

Using Black Video, Lighting Effect and Titles 
I had a clip with one of the characters in my film which was a young girl and she has tears running down her face. I decided to place this at the beginning and try to make her face and the tear running down her face the focus of the clip. So I decided to use a black video and like I create with the vignette effect to the house, I will recreate this but to this clip.

I tried to position the circle in the centre and wanted the focus to be the tear that runs down her face so I was particular with the position of the circle and the feathering of the circle, as I didn't want this to go outside her face.

As for the clip itself I applied a lighting effect and changed the default lighting colour to a purple/blue like a bruise colour. I also changed the shape of the lighting circle and the position, it is more of a flat circle than round and it fills around the eye. I just wanted the eye to be the focus in particular the tears. 

This is a before and after of the clip, the after clip looks better, this clip will go at the beginning of the video just after the preview screen. I think this will be a good place for it as it sets the mood to what kind of movie it will be, like the tear represents upset, horror, sad. It gives audiences an insight into the genre of the movie in that first few seconds of the video. 

In particular with the text where I have the words "Based on a true story" I believe when people see or know that movies are based on a true story it makes them want to watch it more. It certainly does to me, in the decision to watch a movie. As for the text in this part of the clip, I have text elsewhere in my video also. I used titles and this was very simple and easy to create,  I wanted this to be that way. I used the text which I have used many times before in my work, which is Trajan Pro, I think this text was just perfect as I wanted it to be simple. 

Using Levels and Auto Levels

Using Levels, Auto Levels, Razor and Fast Colour Corrector 

I have used levels and also auto levels a number of times in my video but I will use one example of where I used it. As this made a significant change from the original that I liked.  

I applied an Auto Levels and Levels and this is a before and after of this. As you can see it makes the white more brighter and it makes it stand out, before it was quite dull and very boring. I basically changed the levels of everything until I liked the look it gave on the clip. I found that when I applied it to the whole scene where there was the door and tables it didn't look as good it looked dark and you could not see anything properly so using the Razor Tool I trimmed the scenes where there wasn't a countdown (numbers) and deleted the effects applied but I did feel like these parts needed some kind of effect so I applied the Fast Colour Corrector to it and pasted the attributes from where I used it previously. It was only a little colour correct that had a tint of green.

Using Own Footage

Using Fast Colour Corrector, Auto Levels and Levels 

I placed my own clip into my video, this was kind of a challenge as to begin with this footage was filmed in the day and my video is darker and the place where I wanted to use this was filmed in the night. So I used a number of effects onto this clip in order to make this fit with the rest of the video. But I think as the end result it fit quite well.

I used both Auto Levels and Levels and also a Fast Colour Corrector in order for it to look as it did in the end. I used the fast colour corrector to try and make it darker also because the footage with this I used this effect on also, so I tried to match the colour in order to make it fit well. The video has a tint of green but not too strong as it would not look good, as do the other clips near this clip.

The Auto Level and Levels helped me to change the balance of the white and black to make the image darker. This allowed me to try and darken to image to make it look like it was set at a later time than it was actually. 

As you can see there is a big difference from the before, the original which I did nothing to and the after which looks like it could have been filmed in the night. 

My Footage

I wanted to use something which I have filmed for my Promotional Video and not taken from the internet. I saw a clip of a man running and I just wanted to recreate this, I film the clip on my IPhone 4 and asked Robert Harris from my course if he could act this running scene and was happy to do so. This footage was filmed in the day at 5 o’clock.

Using Title and Zoom Effect

I created titles for the after text and this was where I wrote Coming Soon. I used three different titles to create this whole title. The screenshot below is what it looks like altogether.

To create the Coming Soon part I used three different titles but I placed this into one sequence. 

The font which I used for this was Trajan Pro, the font that I have used throughout my whole DVD package.

To begin creating this I applied a verticle flip which created a new title that was just the text but flipped upside down, I changed the position of the verticle flip, I positioned this right under the text and I liked the look of this. I wanted the shadow to be more faint and not as bright as it was like a shadow would be. I created a rectangle and changed the fill type from the default to a Linear Gradient and changed the gradient colour to black. Changing the opacity made the text more visible and the pointer bits in the colour section. I also applied an alphabetic glow from the effect section and this made the red glow you see around the text. I had the choice to made this red or white, I had it white to begin with but on others opinions they liked the red better than the white so I chose the red.    

The first image is the before when I placed the rectangle square and the second is where I did and this created a more shadow look. As you can see this is the text that the verticle flip was applied to and the text 

is upside down. 

After I this this I applied a zoom effect to this as this made this look much better. I had to apply this same effect to all of the titles bit as I used 3 different titles to create this. I did this I placed this all in one sequence because I wanted more text on this to say "Written by Asna Satari"and a link to where it can be found on facebook because I saw trailers and they had this. 

To create this part of the text all that I did was use the Trajan Pro text again using a smaller font above the coming soon text and the other under it. To make this fade and look more better I used the pen tool. 

Creating a Lightning Effect

Using Lightning Effect, Lighting Effect, Pen Tool and Blend Mode

I had a scene of the house and wanted this to be more eye catching and so it can draw the attention of the audience, to really bring a horror like sense to the trailer as usually rain and thunder is associated with horror and often used in trailer. From being a fan of horror films and watching a few in my time I know a lot of the horror conventions and this is one and I wanted to include this into my trailer. The scene to begin with had little lighting changes to look like lightning but not much, I thought instead of creating a whole new lightning effect to a clip which didn’t have any lightning like effects. Before I could start creating this I made sure that this was possible, looking at the different effects that Photoshop provided, I found a Lighting (Video Effects > Adjust > Lighting Effects) one which changed the brightness which will come in good use when I have the strikes as the lightning in the sky needs to change. I also came across another effect which was called Lightning (Video Effects > Generate > Lightning) which I looked at created the lightning strikes; this was exactly what I was looking for.

To begin creating this effect I copied the clip and placed this in the above layer and went in video effects and changed the Blend Mode to Linear Dodge which gave the image light and a darker blue earthy look more like a sky with lightning would. When I applied the Lighting Effect I changed the light type to Omni.

I changed the position of the lighting change, it is near the house. I could have changed this at different points in the clip but I wanted this to remain in the same place. Lightning affects parts of the sky sometimes, I made sure that I didn’t have the lighting to bright as this would look to fake and unrealistic. On the lighting effect I also changed the radius of the circle which the lighting changes and also the intensity of the lighting.

You may notice in the image provided I created a Black Video but this wanted black, I changed this to Screen on the Blend Mode. I created this so I can apply the Lightning Effect to it; it’s like a different layer. To this I applied the Lightning Effect and changed the size and position of the strike to go downwards rather than across, there was lots of other options such as the speed that I changed. I used the Razor tool to cut the clip up, I used this tool because it was the easiest tool and it cut exactly where I wanted it, from looking at the line. I cut my clip as I deleted some parts where I didn’t want the lightning strikes to continue throughout the clip as this is would not be realistic so I cut the bits I didn’t want the strikes like where the lighting effect didn’t take place and then deleted this. Doing this allowed me to change the positioning of the strikes only slightly, because naturally lightning strikes change position a little. This also meant I could change the positioning of the lighting to be where the lightning strike is.  

Finally using the Pen Tool, one of the simpliest tools on premiere which can be used to change the brightness of a clip very easily. I did this to the actual footage of the house, the one which I didn't apply any effect to. I placed pen points and this changed the brightness of the clip which made it dark at some parts just like a lightning with rain would.

 

 

Creating a Vignette Effect

I wanted to create a vignette like effect for a clip I have which is of the house as the car approaches the driveway. I thought creating this effect would take the focus from the car and more on the house. The vignette effect creates a border that fades in from the edges so that the attention is drawn to a particular part of the image/clip such as the house. Below is an image of the raw clip with nothing applied to it.

This is the kind of effect I was going where the deer is the focus of the image, it keeps the viewers eyes on that part of the image. 

To begin creating this vignette effect I created a "black video" (New Item > Black Video) which creates as the name says a black video, I placed this on the video layer on top of the scene in the length of the video. I could continue and feather this and create a vignette but it would be square and I didn't want this so I came across a video effect with the name "circle" and applied this to the black video (I have not made any changes to the actual clip) which created a circle out of the black square previously. At this stage it had a small circle which was black and the rest was of the scene, this was opposite to what I wanted but I inverted the circle. The circle was really small so I changed the radius of the circle, I did it enough to hide the trees from the frame and the car. You may notice that the circle is not exactly in the centre either, I wanted to hide the car from the scene, I tried to fit it to the shape of the house also. I then feathered the edges which made the circle less sharp and was more faded. 

This was when I applied no feather to the inverted circle. 

This is like the after when I changed the feather settings as in the other one no feather was applied to it. As I like the look of this I may do a similar effect to another part of my trailer. 

Looking for Audio

Looking for the audio and using the right audio is the most important part of the creation of this promotional video as the audio sets out the mood for the film. This process is key to the success of this promotional video so a lot of thought needs to go into this. To begin with I looked a number of “horror soundtracks” back to back; there was video that was 30minutes long which played soundtracks from famous/popular films. I looked at existing horror trailers to see what kind of mood the audio had like if is loud or quiet and tense. I noticed to begin with the audio is a quiet beat and then when the story unveils it becomes more scary like. Films I looked at were The Woman in Black and Possession both followed this kind of track. From the audio I listen to I quite liked the Exorcist Theme Song to have at the start of the video and Poltergeist 2 Soundtrack to play towards the middle and going to the end but when I listened to the full I felt something was missing it didn't sound quite good enough but at this point I did have a certain sound I wanted to be played.

I was introduced to Incompetech by my tutor, which supply royalty free music, all the music is free and they have a variety of genres. I looked in the horror genres, weren't so keen on anything that I listened to so I decided to look at the different genre I went into “wonder” and I found Dreamy Flashback which would go perfectly and also another one by the name Frost Waltz. It was between these two but one had the edge and it was Dreamy Flashback, it fit more with the beginning and it was like the ones on the trailers I saw. This audio will go at the front of the video and will not be very long. As for the audio for the rest of the audio I will have the soundtrack from The Possession from Scala and Kolacny Brothers as I really liked this and couldn’t find an alternative. I think this will go very well with my clip.

The whole process of looking for the audio was very long because I wanted the perfect audio as I believe this is as important as the actual clip. In the end it worked out well as I have two great audio that I can imagine will go very well in my video.

Promotional Trailer Set Up

Now that the graphics side of it is complete, I have to create a 1 minute promotional video like a trailer to go with my cover and label. 

Once I created the project, I created a number of “bins” like files/folders in premiere for my workspace to remain organised as I wanted the audio to be kept separate from the clips or the folder I made for images. The folders I created are in the screen shot shown below.

I then imported files (clips/images) and placed them into the correct bins.

I started to trim the clips from the source footage in order to cut out the parts that I didn’t want and only get the bits I did, by opening the source footage and placing my start and end markers to each clip and finally dragging just the bits I wanted to my clip bin I created. Doing this meant that I didn't clip the original clip, and also was useful when I wanted different parts from one clip. 

Where I wanted just the audio and not the video or vice versa I unlinked the video and then deleted the bit that I didn't want either audio or video. 

Clips for Promotional Video

I began to start looking for clips I would use for my video bearing in mind that my film is horror and the whole storyline of the 1 minute promotion video should all make sense with my DVD cover(the description I wrote) but not so much of the DVD label as this is just an image. Whereas with the cover I have images and a short description. Fortunately I did not use any images of characters because at that stage I was unsure how I would go about things when it came to my promotion I didn’t think about this at that time. So my characters just have their names on my DVD cover but not any images.

I came across films such as The Possession, The Grudge and Amityville Horror which had a storyline quite similar to mine so I could use these as examples to look at. Out of these films I used clips from the Amityville Horror most but did look at the other films trailers for ideas on how I should create mine. These trailers were much longer than mine this meant it was a bit harder to fit the storyline in such a short amount of time but I think that I can do this. I wanted my trailer to have a family who have been tormented by a person from a different past which has come to haunt them and Amityville horror was a perfect film to use, this doesn't mean that I used all of my clips from this film but most of it is due to continuity such as I didn't want a different house, scene or people I wanted this to remain the same. I may download the whole film so that I can get clips that are on the trial or movie clips, so I can find better parts.

I used firefox to download the videos I wanted to use for my trailer, I tried to get different videos and from different films, I also made sure that the clips were good quality.  Before I began starting to create my promotional video I familiarized myself with premiere, the different tools and using the different effects. I tried to get good quality clips, minimum quality as 480p anything lower than this I would not use it, preferably 720p but if I liked a clip which was of lower quality than this I would therefore use it.

Completed Label - Clipping Mask

My Label is complete now all I have to do is apply a clipping mask which will cut out all the unwanted parts of the DVD label such as where I have gone outside of the label. To do this I created another ellipse and selected everything then went to Object>Clipping Mask>Make. 

This is my completed DVD Label, the quality as you can tell is amazing this was the whole reason why I used illustrator because of the quality it gives the graphics. I am pleased with the results it is matching to my DVD cover which is good because this is all one package and it needs to all fit. 

DVD Signs

Using Pen Tool, Paint Bucket and Blend Mode 

In terms of the DVD logo age certificate and Lionsgate logo, they are all vector but the age certificate is not. To create these vector graphics I used the method to create the dripping blood for over my image. I created them using the pen tool and having the image behind to trace of but the image behind being a low opacity. I used the pen tool which was the best tool to use for this in my opinion,I placed points where I needed where it was curved this tool allowed me to create these curves. I noticed using less points for example to create a O like 2 the shape looked better and more round. 
From doing this first as like practice, I did the Lionsgate Logo without the trace and it looked just as good.

I had to change the colours of the two logos as I had a black background and the colours originally were not suited to a black background but this was easy to change.  

As for the age certificate, I used the same one as I have on my DVD Cover, except when I pasted this it brought a white background which I did not like so I removed this by going to Object > Expand and deleted the outside part. I thought that the logo with colour didn't go well with the DVD logo and Lionsgate Logo which were both black and white so I changed the blend mode to Hue which made it black and white and this fit well with the other symbols. 

DVD Detailings

Using Ellipse Tool, Type Tool and Type on Path Tool

 Since my last post I now have copy right text around my DVD label and I have text with the words “Based on True Story” like on my DVD cover. To create the Copy Right text I created an ellipse smaller than the ellipse and smaller than the guides as it will get cut in the publishing. Then I selected type on path and researched what it usually written there.

 I found that they usually write about public broadcasting or copying. On mine it says “©Lions Gate Entertainments. All Rights Reserved. Unauthorized public broadcasting or copying is a violation of application laws. All Rights Reserved”. I used the standard text, Arial and small to only fill half of the ellipse shape.

As for the text, I used  Trajan Pro which I used a number of times on my DVD cover. I also made this a grey colour rather than a white as it looked much better. 

Dripping Blood from Image

Using Pen Tool, Paint Bucket and Blend Mode

It was a requirement to incorporate some vector elements and currently I have my text which is vector and the image I got from Photoshop. I thought of an idea to have a tear drop coming from the eye and create a vector out of this idea but I when I tried to create this I didn't like it, then I had an idea to have blood dripping from the eye. This would fit with the text. I had the option to create the blood myself using the pen tool or use a blood image use this as a trace in the background. After I traced the image I painted it red, a bloody colour and then changed the Blend Mode to Multiply which turned the red colour into a more blood like red, more realistic. I also turned the opacity down to 80%.

Creating Title

Using Type Tool, Brush Tool, Inner Glow, Outer Glow and Blend Modes

To create the I wanted to use the tools available as much as I possible but I was not familiar with Illustrator as much as I was with Photoshop so I decided to look for some tutorials that could help to create a different font. I knew I wanted it to be different from my text on the DVD cover because that was very simple, I wanted to make this bloody and not perfect like the DVD cover. This way I could create a good vector based text. I started to search illustrator tutorials on bloody text and in the first few links I found the tutorial that I wanted to use. (The link to this tutorial is below). I followed the tutorial quite well even though my text doesn’t look like it, I wanted to follow the steps but also make it different and more suited to what I wanted to do so I didn’t follow all of the steps ones which I didn’t like the look of. To start with I used a quite simple looking font which was Impact; I positioned this under the label holes and to the centre. The size was until it fit the whole of the disk. Due to the fact that I applied lots of effects to the font I will list them.

-Roughen effect- made the lines on the text less perfect and more wavy like (Effect>Disort&Transform>Roughen) and I also get the default settings of this effect.

I then created the blood drips using the Ellipse Tool. I added a Squeeze and Bulge Effect (Effect>Warp) and I expanded to appearance. I placed the drips like they were hanging from the text.

I added an Inner Glow effect to give the text a different look, also an Outer Glow.

I placed two gradient effects to the text which saw the text come from light to dark; the colours I used were black and red. On one of the gradients I changed the blend mode to Color Burn and the other to Color Dodge.

I applied a Gaussian Blur which I have used before but this was on Photoshop, which is a type of blur and caused the text to become more blurred.

At this point the tutorial used the brush tool to apply ink spots, from the Brush Library > Artistic > Artistic Ink. Select the “Ink Spots” brush. I did this but I selected the whole of the text and the brush tool to apply this and it affected the whole of the text, this made it look much different from the tutorial did but I liked the effect. The tutorial only applied the spots around the font.

Placing Image Stripes from Photoshop

Using Ellipse Tool 

I wanted to use my front cover image for my label, but I didn't want to use the entire image. I just wanted the eye as this was the focus of the whole image. I also wanted the image to be cut in stripes and I couldn't do this illustrator so I had to used Photoshop to cut the image and then take it back to illustrator, the stripes were quite small and long enough to fit the length of the label.

I also have a background colour which is black, in order for continuity with my DVD cover as it is a DVD package and its only one film. I used the ellipse tool in order to create the place for the colour.   

DVD Disk Research

Before I started to create my DVD label I began with my research first so that I can look at what horror labels have in common so that I can follow these in order for my label to look at professional as possible.

Creating Dvd Disk Template in Illustrator

In order to create my DVD label, I used the Ellipse tool to create the outer circle, and then I created the second outer circle following the measurement which was given to me using the ellipse again and did the same with the two inner circles. I made sure that the two inner circles were centred and not off because this would cut my label detailing when I publish it, I did this my going to View-Guides-Make to make the guides, then View-Guides-Lock Guides to lock the guides from moving out of place. I then set these as my guides, so they would not move out of place when I change things. Another important thing about this set up is that it is CYMK like my DVD cover because it prints better quality and I changed this in the set up. 

DVD Disk Layout with Sketches

Now that my DVD cover is complete at a level where I happy with it. I will now move on to creating my DVD disk label. I have also taken into consideration what the vector elements will be and what they will contain.
I have a few ideas to how I want my DVD label to look, I have sketched these out and are below:

Idea 1:

My idea here is quite simple I will have my image from my front cover to be placed at the front, I don't want the whole image so I may cut the rest of the image off and have just the eye because this is the main focus. The text will be placed at the bottom, I think this may be white or a red colour. I will have the certificate 15 on one side and the DVD logo on the other side. I want to use the lionsgate Logo and this will look best at the top of the label. Although I don't have the copyright text around the label, this will be placed there more to the bottom half than the bottom. The vector elements there will be the logos and the title.

Idea 2

Idea 2 is quite similar to idea 1 except I wont have the image from my front cover, instead I will have blood dripping from the top of the label. This will be one of the vector elements alone with the text and the logos. The text here I have is different text, the other was more bloody but there it is more simple.

Completed DVD Cover

This is my now complete DVD cover, on feedback from others which have said it is very good and near professional standard. I’m pleased with the outcome and will not be adding further changes to this because I am satisfied with the way that it looks.

The lorem lipsum text which was there before has been removed and replaced with some actual text which I have made up, as this DVD cover will be published soon and the lorem lipsum text was only temporary until I knew what I wanted to go there. 

Removing Special Features Section

Using the Brush Tool, Clipping Mask and Blend Modes 

I have decided to remove the special features section from my back cover because looking at it again I felt that I had too much text on the back cover, my images of the scenes don’t take enough room because they are small so I will have some more image to go in this gap. I will make it different from the current image on my back cover.

I decided like with the other image to use a clipping mask, but I will not be clipping the image into a rectangular shape. I used the brush tool to draw out the area I wanted the image to be placed, I didn't use the default brush, I used the number 60 brush which paints less perfect it patchy like and rectangle and appose to the round brush. I liked the way it looked, the white colour will go when the image in placed over it. 

I then had to look for the image which should be placed in the painted area, I weren't sure to begin with what to have to fill just a small area. Then I had an idea to have an image of graveyards placed there, just the top of the graveyards that way I didn't need the whole of the image, the tops is just fine. The image I found already was dark and the grave stones were grey so they would fit perfectly with my DVD back cover and its tones. Now that I had found my image, I re sized it to the area and created my clipping mask using ALT and clicking in between the two layers. I am pleased with this and I can now say that my DVD cover complete.

Filling in Gap

Using Rectangular Marquee Tool, Blend Mode, Hue/Saturation and Levels 

Like I briefly touched up in the previous post I had a gap I needed to fill, about 5 lines worth, I was sure I didn't want to use any more typed text. So I went to look what else I could place, like placing a table there of some kind. I came across a special features section I could add, I had two options this was to create my own or take one from an existing and I took one from an existing one. This took me ages to find because not many covers contain this and the one that I did find had different tones of orange but I make these transparent like I did before.

I placed this in the area and it was good fit, I changed the Blend Mode in order to try and get rid of some of the orange in the background and was successful, I used Lighter Colour Blend (turned the opacity down also as it was too strong). I still hadn't finished with the effects because it was not yet transparent. For this reason I applied the Hue/Saturation adjustment layer, and I turned the Saturation down and this got rid of the colour orange/red and was on the image you can see in the screen shot however it didn't get rid of any of the marks that were left where the orange colour was. I then added another adjustment layer, this was Levels, and this was the last effect I needed to apply because it achieved exactly what I wanted it to. It got rid of the marks, as you can see in the screen shots, all of these effects did different things but together they did exactly what I wanted for them to so overall I was glad with the result. 

Backcover Text (Part2)

Using Text Tool, 

I have placed more text in the back cover going along I am also cautious of how much I put in there because it don’t want it to be crowded of all text, I may need to place some images where necessary but for now I will be placing the text. From my researching I did previously, I noticed that on the back cover of some DVD covers they list a website which viewers can get more information about the film. I wrote “Visit website at – MyMovie.com”, this was made up, I changed nothing for this text because I thought it looked fine the way that it was even though it didn't look the exact same colour and size at the copied rating advice but I liked this contrast, it made it look like it was different and not one bit of text. Font of this is Trajan which I have used on my title and tagline, as I am a big fan of this font. 

To build on this text I have created a credits section with the names of cast and crew in the style that I have seen on DVD covers, I have used a different font because the Trajan Pro is in capitals and I needed for some parts to not in lower case so I used Arial instead. I have started this with “starring” and the names of people follow with lower case “and” and their role for example actor was in lower case because the main focus is the names of people. I also made the font look narrower vertically as I noticed what they looked like on DVD covers. I am pleased with how this looks; it is just like it is on DVD covers. 

Now all I have to do for my back cover is to fill the gap, as it is too large of a gap I can't just leave it how it is so I will try to images or more text. Will explore more into the next post. 

Backcover Text (Part1)

Using Hue/Saturation, Blend Modes, Rubber Tool, Rectangle Marquee Tool and Type Tool 

Rectangle Marquee Tool- I decided to use this tool for the selection of the Rating Advice as this was in a rectangle shape, I felt this was the most appropriate tool to use because of this.

I have already put some text at the top, in the tagline. I also wanted text under the images of the scenes where a short section written about the film will go, for now I will be placing some Lorem Lipsum text here but this is just temporary and when I come to the time where I write the text that will go there I will replace this however I may keep this. Have placed this right in the centre of the back panel, I have chosen to have this font as white because this looked better and I had the tagline line in white colour also. 

I wasn’t so sure what to place after this so I started working from the bottom up because I had plans for what should go on there. Usually at the bottom of DVD covers you find some ratings advice and information about unauthorised use of the DVD. I didn’t want to create my own so I because I thought that they are usually pretty much the same so I went to find one from a high resolution image, this did take a long time because I wanted the find the right one that would fit with my cover. I did want one with a same colour background as mine but because I had an image this was impossible, so I was looking for anything that was good and I would change it to make it transparent. I used this from a movie called The Lincoln Lawyer. When I searched for this I specified the search to show large image so that when I take it to my DVD cover it would not be too small and so I don’t stretch it which would not make it clear which was the problem with some DV D covers. This was fine and you can read the text clearly.

With this text I had to change the Blend Mode because I found when I placed the ratings advice the colour didn’t match, so I changed it to Linear Doge and I added a Hue/Saturation, taking the Saturation down and the Lightness up until I thought it looked fine. Like I said with the transparency thing, all I did was change the Blend Mode to Kind and this got right of the black background, I found that it left a grey boarder so I used the rubber tool to remove this. I also didn’t like the signs at the top of the ratings information, so again I used the rubber tool to remove this to make it fit with my film.
